Reflexology
Reflexology is a powerful complementary medicine therapy based on the principles that there are
zones/reflex areas on the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to each part, organ, and gland of the
body. As the feet and/or hands are worked, each system of the body is enhanced including the hormonal,
lymphatic, digestive, eliminative and nervous systems.
The object of reflexology is to stimulate the inherent healing potential of the body and trigger the return to
homoeostasis by stimulation of the reflexes and meridians in the feet working to eliminate congestions
that may be obstructing the vital energy flow.
Strictly speaking, reflexology is not massage, because it primarily works the nerve ending in the hands,
feet, and ears. Massage works the muscles and their fascia.
The practice of reflexology is ancient. It was first reported in Chinese literature in 3000 B.C. In the tomb of
an Egyptian physician, dating from 2330 B.C., a wall painting shows hand-and -foot reflexology. The
patient's inscription says, "Don't hurt me." The pactitioer replies, "I shall act so you praise me."

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A SESSION
On your first visit you will be warmly greeted and asked to complete a short client information form.
You remain fully clothed other than removing your socks. You will be seated in a comfortable reclining
chair with soft relaxing music playing in the background. The treatment begins with your hands, upon
completion of the hands your eyes may be covered, a heated herbal pack placed around your neck and
you will be lightly covered to help you relax. Using mostly my thumb and forefinger, I "walk" across each
area of the foot feeling for congestion (sandy or crunchy feeling), maybe tender to client. If I come across
a congested area, I work there until I feel it loosen up, then move on working every reflex in the foot. I may
apply an Essential Oil to the congested area for added assistance in relieving the congestion. When the
treatment is finished, I end with applying an Essential Oil Blend and a deep breathing exercise. I always
encourage drinking a lot of water for several hours to help flush the body of the toxins that have been
released.
EFFECTS OF A TREATMENT
There are very few side effects of reflexology treatments. As soon as the session begins, in most cases,
there is an immediate relaxation; some even fall asleep. After the treatment some feel very relaxed or
sleepy, and some feel energized. However, normally both types feel fully refreshed the next day. A
common side effect is the elimination of toxins, and some may experience headaches or nausea from
the toxins being released. Flushing your system with plenty of water helps alleviate any discomfort.
*Contraindicated for anyone with blood clot history, severe varicose veins or skin lesions.
**Please advise if your may be pregnant.
